Garage Door Opener Works Inside Not Outside

I purchased and installed a craftsman garage door opener model 139 53918d this week.

Remotes for the garage door opener only work when standing right under the garage door opener and will not work when outside the garage. I d also check your garage door opener antenna. It did close it from outside garage but i could not open it again. Not all have it but many have a 12 wire than hangs down.
