Well the good news is it may be as simple as pushing a lock button or sliding it to the unlock position.
Garage door will not open with wall switch or remote.
However there is always the possibility that neither the remote control nor wall switch will open the garage door.
When your garage door won t open with the remote there are few things that can cause this problem.
The antenna on the motor could be damaged or blocked from the signal.
If the door opens when you press the button on the wall mounted control keypad but not when you use the remote you might have just pinpointed the source of the problem.
Simple but true the remote transmitter needs power to send a signal to your opener.
If the door opens with the wall switch a simple battery change in the remote should do the trick.
Depending on the model most work by connecting two to four wires onto terminals mounting the device on the wall and then plugging the unit into an electrical outlet.
That wiring can become damaged or disconnected.
Disconnect the wires from the button and touch the bare ends together.
If the door operates either the wires weren t securely connected to the button or it s gone bad.

If the door operates the problem is in the wire or button.
This means while one option might not work you can still use the other to open and close the garage door while you sort it out.
The button is bad.
You might be out of range.
Make sure it is hanging down from the motor.
Usually when a garage door doesn t open the problem lies with either the wall switch or your remote.
Try resetting the remote.
Installing and operating the wall console for a garage door opener is fairly uncomplicated.
If pressing the button on your garage door s remote control doesn t work check the batteries first.
Check that wires are securely attached to the sensor s photoelectric eyes each eye has 2 wires and the wall unit.
